PDP boycotts Pulwama district development board meeting

Srinagar, July 27 (PTI) For the second time in as many days, opposition PDP today boycotted a district development board meeting and held protests against the government for its alleged failure to protect lives of innocent people. "DDB meeting is just an attempt to hoodwink the masses.PDP MLAs today boycotted the meeting of Pulawama district and held protest against the government for its failure to protect lives of innocent people," the PDP said in a statement here. Yesterday, PDP legislators had walked out of Anantnag district development board meeting. "On the one hand, killings of innocent of people have been going on, on the other hand development activities have come to a standstill since formation of National Conference- led coalition. So there is no reason to convene DDB meetings," PDP MLAs said while coming out of the meeting today. PDP MLAs Mohammed Khalil Bandh, Sayed Bashir, Zahoor Ahmed Mir and Mushtaq Shah accused the government of holding such meetings just to "divert the attention of the people from other important issues".

Cast 'Net wide, lure customers with Web

A short while ago, it was virtually impossible to run a small business with clients and colleagues spread out around the country and world. Thanks to the Internet, the invention of ''virtual businesses'' has allowed entrepreneurs to branch out all over the globe.

Some of the fastest growing businesses exist entirely in cyberspace.

The virtual business movement has transformed how millions of small, successful firms operate in America. Under the virtual model, business owners outsource nearly everything — including people and partners who might be anywhere — to create their company. The technologies and Web-based services to tie it all together are becoming more sophisticated, but less expensive all the time, helping fuel the move to virtual existence.

While the absence of a traditional office might change how you manage your business and the people who work for you, it doesn't eliminate the need for doing so effectively. Staying connected and working in unison is vital to virtual success. Cell phones, e-mail, follow-me-anywhere messaging and shared workspaces on the Web can keep it all running smoothly.
